source folder list
The source folder list allows you to specify which drives and folders are to be searched for duplicate files. You activate a source folder for the search by checking the checkbox in front of the folder path.Exclude subfolders
If you uncheck the checkbox in the Search subfolders column for a source folder, all subfolders within this source folder will be excluded from the search.
File protection
If you check the checkbox in the File protection column for a source folder, AllDup cannot delete, move, or rename any files within this source folder. The file protection can later be changed if required in the search result via the menu item File protection in the menu bar.
Add folder
You can add a new folder to the source folder list by clicking the Source folder button in the toolbar, by right-clicking in the source folder list to open the context menu, by clicking the '+' button in the top right of the source folder list, or by dragging a folder from Windows Explorer into the source folder list.
Edit source folder
If you right-click on a source folder, a context menu with various commands will be displayed, such as Edit, Delete, Open, ...
Comparison methods
- Compare files from all source folders
With this comparison method, files from all source folders are compared with each other. - Compare only files that are in the same source folder
With this comparison method, no files that are in different source folders are compared with each other.
Example:- Source folder: C:\Data
- Source folder: D:\Server
- C:\Data\Work\info.txt
- C:\Data\Home\info.txt
- D:\Server\Work\info.txt
- D:\Server\Home\info.txt
- Compare only files from different source folders
With this comparison method, no files that are in the same source folder are compared with each other.
Example:- Source folder: C:\Data
- Source folder: D:\Server
- C:\Data\Work\test.txt
- C:\Data\Home\info.txt
- D:\Server\Backup\data.txt
- Compare only files that are in the same source folder and the same subfolder
With this comparison method, only files that are in the same source folder and the same subfolder are compared with each other.
Example:- Source folder: C:\Data
- Source folder: D:\Server
- C:\Data\Work\info.txt
- C:\Data\Home\info.txt
- C:\Data\Home\todo.txt
- D:\Server\Work\info.txt
- D:\Server\Work\prg.txt
- D:\Server\Home\info.txt
Options
Do not search folders (NTFS junction points) that refer to the content of other foldersNTFS junction points are empty folders that refer to the content of another folder. With this option, you can prevent such folders from being searched and processed. This option is enabled by default. If you disable this option, you should first check that no infinite loop is created by the junction points and no data is processed twice.
Disable Windows 64-bit file system redirection
This option allows AllDup to determine the correct number of system files in a 64-bit version of Windows.
